Join us on Labor Day week-end for a great time!

The 5th annual "Southeastern K-9 Family Camp Out" will again be hosted by the 39th Scout Dog Platoon. In 2004 it will be over the Labor Day weekend of September 3rd thru 6th. In contrast to the first year's event that was held at Pete's place on Edisto Island along the coast, this year we will again be inland near Mountain Rest, South Carolina. This is in the northwest corner of South Carolina within the Sumter National Forest near the Chattooga River on property owned by Johnny Mayo. This river is designated as a "National Wild & Scenic River," and was the location for the filming of the Burt Reynolds movie "Deliverance."
In addition to the tent camping sites, Johnny has 4 cabins that he has personaly hand built on the property that can be used by those without camping gear. A fifth is now under construction and should be completed this summer. There are currently 10 tent sites near Cabin #1, and 6 more near the "Log House". There will be two spaces with power hookups for moderate sized RVs. The campground at Oconee State Park is only three miles down the road, and can accomodate any "overflow" if needed. For those that would rather do their camping in a motel room, the Best Western Executive Inn 18 miles away in Seneca, SC would be the closest one. If anyone requires special access facilities, let us know in ample time and we will let you know what we can do to accomodate your needs. The site is about 30 miles north of exit #1 on Interstate 85, and about 40 miles west of Greenville, SC. This makes it fairly convenient for handlers coming from North and South Carolina, Georgia, and eastern Tennessee.
This is meant to be a low cost, fun filled affair, so your basic expenses will be for your transportation, food, and drinks. HOWEVER, in order to help with some expenses, tips WILL be accepted. Reservations will be necessary so that we will know where to place you. If anyone wants to remain for the entire week, they are welcome.

See you there! - Pete & Johnny
